KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY MAGAZINE
Tower magazine, issued August 2016, is published by Kutztown University, a member of the
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The Tower is published twice a year. It is free
online to KU alumni and friends of the university. A limited number of pieces are printed.

PICHINI AWARDED HONORARY DOCTORATE
Guido M. Pichini ’74 was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters degree during the
presidential inauguration of Dr. Kenneth Hawkinson. Pichini recently finished his fifth consecutive
term as chairman of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors. He is
the first State System university alumnus to chair the board that oversees the State System. He
also is a member of the Kutztown University Council of Trustees. During his acceptance, Pichini
announced that he and his wife Susan are providing a full tuition scholarship to an outstanding
Reading High School student to attend Kutztown University next year. The Pichinis are co-chairs
of the university’s Sesquicentennial Celebration.
