MSW Field Profiles 2018-19

MSW Catherine Cowell 2018-2019 Agency Name: CONCERN Professional Services Profile: CONCERN is a private non-profit human service agency that offers foster care, adoption, behavioral health, residential services and community-based programs to children and their families. CONCERN has multiple locations throughout Pennsylvania. CONCERN's mission statement is, "CONCERN brings hope, offers opportunity and inspires change." Field Placement Responsibilities: I will be writing child profiles and doing child preparation work. I will be writing child profiles for children in foster care placements. This involves gathering information on each child and compiling a record of their history including facts about their biological families. This requires interviewing current and previous resource parents, biological parents, caseworkers, and other personnel that have been involved in the child's life. Child profiles help recruit resource families for children in foster care placement. The goal of child preparation work is to help a child remember their past, where they came from, and where they are going. Child Preparation workers construct a Lifebook with the child that displays pictures, letters, achievements and various other memorabilia from the child's life. Future Goals: My future goals are to graduate with my MSW and continue doing work with children in a school social work setting. I would like to work for a few years and travel overseas.
