BSW Field Profiles 2020-21

BSW Sara Garman 2020 Agency Name: Kutztown University's Social Work Department Profile: The research study focuses on the challenges and barriers of rural Pennsylvanians ' access to mental health and substance abuse services. The populations of focus are youth (18 and under) and 65+. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field placement responsibilities are recruiting insurance providers, service providers, service users, and a policymaker. I will be doing literature reviews, observing focus groups, writing field notes, identify themes, cleaning and entering data, and observing and conducting individual zoom interviews. I will look at surveys sent to parents from school districts across the state about the impact of COVID - 19 on their children's education. I will also create a training on grief and loss for the research team to learn more about what our populations may experience and develop questions for this training. Future Goals: My future goals are to graduate with my BSW, continue my education (MSW) and obtain my licensures. I want to obtain certificates for developmental disabilities, trauma response, and case management. Department of Social Work
