BSW Elizabeth Lessig 2020 Agency Name: Berks County Children and Youth Profile: Berks County Children and Youth is a children and youth services agency that protects the well being of the children in Berks County, Pa. Their mission is to protect children and assure their physical & emotional well - being as provided by law and to preserve, strengthen & empower their families. The agency is assigned to protect children, up to eighteen years of age, from abuse and neglect. Field Placement Responsibilities: As an intern in the in - home department, I assure the well being and safety of children. Some of my roles include going to in - home visits, writing risk - assessments, creating family service plans, and shadowing court hearings. I shadow other caseworkers to see how they interact with clients. Some of my roles can include brokering clients to the proper resources if needed. When going to home - visits I check the home to make sure the house is stable for the children. Future Goals: After I graduate, I hope to start working at Berks County Children and Youth as a caseworker. I want to continue my education at Kutztown University for my Master's Degree through the CWELL Program. Department of Social Work
