BSW Field Profiles 2020-21

BSW Cheyenne Lehman 2020 Agency Name: Open Door Project Profile: The Open Door Project aims to provide a safe, comfortable presence in the community, by way of sanctuary and safe space in which old and young alike are valued and offered a place to build and maintain positive relationships and personal growth. Field Placement Responsibilities: At the Open Door Project, I act as an Educator, Learner, and Advocate. As an Educator, I teach and mentor students during programs. Many of these lessons focus on social work perspectives such as the importance of diversity and empathy. I also work to educate my team and community. I am the first social work intern at the agency . I actively teach others about the profession and how social work can be incorporated into a non - profit agency. I am also a Learner, specifically learning from other professions, children, and the community. Lastly, as an Advocate, I work to find opportunities for social, economic, and environmental justice through several different means. These include identifying grants and other state and federal funding . Re search is also done in the interest of the community. Future Goals: My future goals include working with diverse populations in need of advocacy and social justice. Department of Social Work
