CELEBRATES ITS GLORIOUS PAST IN 2015
Kutztown University’s Sesquicentennial Celebration will
include a very special milestone for the Golden Bear football
program.The 2015 season will mark the 100th year that
the institution has fielded a team on the gridiron.
The “100 Seasons of KU Football” recognition will
feature several special events at home games, including
fireworks at Family Day and the announcement of the
all-time team at the November 7 home game against
Shippensburg.The teamwill wear a “100”helmet decal, and
special moments in program history will be shared via radio
broadcasts and telecasts, public address and kubears.com.
While football was first played at the then Keystone
State Normal School more than 100 years ago, three dis-
ruptions in the program’s history have delayed the team’s
centennial season to this year.
When football began on Normal Hill in 1895, the games
and opponents looked drastically different than what
Golden Bear fans are used to today. Keystone went 5-0
