MSW Mitchell Stokes 2022 Agency Name: PROFS Office at Kutztown University Profile: Providing Resources and Opportunity for Future Standouts (PROFS) facilitates education opportunities to individuals who have been a part of the foster care system. The agency achieves their mission by providing support, mentoring, scholarships, financial workshops, and professional development to these students throughout their pursuit of higher education at Kutztown University. Field Placement Responsibilities: As a Success Coach at PROFS, I meet with the students assigned to my case load on a weekly basis. The essence of these meetings ranges from checking on the student’s academic progress to checking in on their mental and emotional needs. When concerns or needs arise among my students that I cannot directly address myself, I support the student by finding contacts and acting as a broker and liaison for resources that they may have difficulty accessing. These resources range from mental health services, financial aid services, acquiring class materials, acquiring access to social welfare resources, accessing on campus resources such as the student food pantry and tutoring services, and establishing contact with student disability services for students who may require accommodations. Future Goals: My future goals include obtaining my MSW as well as LCSW. I intend to use my education and license to improve the quality of life of veterans and youth.
