MSW Field Profiles 2019-20

MSW Amanda Phillips 2019 Agency Name: Concern Profile: Concern is a non-profit human services organization that provides a multitude of services. Concern's focus has been leading programs that meet the needs of the child, and the goal is for children who are placed into care to live in a traditional family setting in a community as opposed to residing in a residential/institutional settings. Field Placement Responsibilities: At my field placement, I am in the foster care department. I intern with the medical coordinator of the medical foster care department. The medical foster care program services children who require more specialized attention than those in traditional foster care. The responsibilities as a medical coordinator include identifying foster parents who can meet the child's needs, providing training to foster parents regarding the specific medical conditions/treatment of the child, transferring the child to the home, and continuing follow-upmedical services. I assist my task supervisor with billing and insurance, referrals, training foster parents in their homes, and providing trainings outside of the home. Future Goals: I currently work at Concern in the adoption department, which has always been my goal. One of my dreams and a potential goal is to go to another country and assist in adoption services.
