Megan Pascoe 2019 Agency Name: Lehigh Valley Health Network Children's Hospital John Van Brakle Child Advocacy Center Profile: LVHN John Van Brakle Child Advocacy Center is a programof Lehigh Valley Children's Hospital. The program serves vulnerable children and their families in Lehigh County. The focus of the program is to investigate all abuse allegations. Child Advocacy center follows the National Children's Alliance model to reduce the trauma experienced while receiving services withmultiple providers in one location. Field Placement Responsibilities: Field responsibilities include greeting families upon their arrival to the Child Advocacy Center. Provide tours to child and their family along with in depth explanation about services provided. During the tour the child is shown the interview room to help them become comfortable with the environment. Explain and have families sign the consent for treatment form along with the acknowledgement of family advocate role. Meet with caregiver while child is being interviewed and answer any questions theymay have and to gather more background information. Observe forensic interviews and medical exams. Submit ChildLine reports as needed. Link families to community resources and make necessary referrals. Future Goals: When I graduate with my MSW I would like to work with children with physical disabilities or illnesses. I plan on taking the licensure exam and also working towards my clinical license.
