MSW Field Profiles 2019-20

MSW Julia Nattle 2019 Agency Name: Orion Communities Profile: Orion Communities strives to meet the unmet needs of the community through assisting individuals and families experiencing hardships due to poverty, disability, or illness by building bridges that lead to self-reliance. Orion listens at the street level and works to provide services with creativity, compassion, and collaboration. Field Placement Responsibilities: At Orion, I meet with individuals and families requiring assistance with various needs. As an MSW intern, I provide short term case management in the hopes to find a feasible solution to resolve the situation at hand. I am responsible for communicating with other agencies in the nearby counties that may partner with Orion or serve as a resource to the clients. When necessary, I advocate on behalf of my clients when they feel as though they have exerted all their options. My most important responsibility is to work with and treat people with compassion and kindness, which is something that my clients do not always experience. Vulnerable populations often face some form of discrimination. I make it my responsibility to alleviate stressors my clients are facing in any way possible. Future Goals: All my life I tried to plan out my future, but I have come to an understanding that it is okay to not have everything figured out. My future goals are to use my degree to better the lives of others. Department of Social Work
