MSW Field Profiles 2019-20

MSW Laurie Hodgson, BSW 2019 Agency Name: KidsPeace Children's Hospital Profile: KidsPeace Children's Hospital is located in Orefield, Pennsylvania. It is a children's psychiatric hospital that focuses on the mental and behavioral health needs of children, families, and communities. KidsPeace Hospital assists in stabilizing children in severe crisis. Their services expand beyond hospitalization and include residential treatment and programing within the community. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field placement responsibilities as a clinical intern include engaging with children and their families. I am responsible for conducting biopsychosocial assessments, facilitating individual, family, and group therapy for children with a history of trauma and behavioral/mental health issues. As I progress in my internship I will be able to develop treatment plan. I am able to manage documentation and be supportive on the milieu as well as participating in interdisciplinary treatment teammeetings. I utilize supervision with my field instructor to help guide me throughout this experience. Future Goals: I plan to take my LSWexam and eventually obtainmy LCSW. I would like to pursue hospice and palliative medicine. I'm thankful that social work allows me the opportunity to work with diverse populations. Department of Social Work
