MSW Field Profiles 2019-20

MSW Ashlee Hess 2019 Agency Name: Mary's Shelter Profile: Mary's Shelter is a home for pregnant women and youth ages 14-17. The maternity shelter accepts residents on an intake basis, whereas the youth shelter is considered an emergency shelter where teenagers are able to seek housing there for 21 days. The agency supports the community by providing pantry services to mothers that are pregnant or have young children. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field responsibilities include: case management with youth and maternity, intake processes through both phone and in person interviews, billing for grant programs, engaging in supervision and staff meetings, accepting donations, facilitating educational groups for youth, coordinating with school districts on services, collaborating with Berks Coalition on Homelessness and greeting all donors, visitors and clients with warmth and respect. Future Goals: My future goals are to apply for my clinical license, join NASW, and open my own practice to provide counseling services targeted towards couples and families. Department of Social Work
