MSW Field Profiles 2019-20

MSW Rachel Godshall 2019 Agency Name: Aspire to Autonomy Inc. Profile: Aspire to Autonomy Inc is a 1503c nonprofit whose initiative is to support survivors of human trafficking in their recovery through empowerment, opportunities to grow, and the fostering of autonomy. Aspire uses resources, services, community and human relationships to help survivors accomplish their goals. Aspire has 72-hour emergency shelter for female victims of human trafficking. Field Placement Responsibilities: As an MSW intern, I was assigned to develop the standard operating procedures for various programs and systems within the agency including the ambassador program, referral process, transportation procedures, and shelter procedures. This means that I also have been asked to share and train other members of Aspire on the procedures and expectations of each program. I have been assigned the role of Ambassador Coordinator. This means that I am responsible for onboarding ambassadors (volunteers) to work within Aspire. As Ambassador Coordinator, I am responsible for following up with those interested in Aspire and then walking them through the process. Along with this, I attend community meetings regularly to network and represent Aspire in the community. Future Goals: I am interested in working with human trafficking survivors, the homeless community, and women in general. I would like to start my own non-profit someday and do social work abroad.
