MSW Field Profiles 2018-19

MSW Kiersten Heffelfinger 2018-2019 Agency Name: Communities in Schools Profile: Communities in Schools is a non- profit agency with a focus on drop out prevention. The community school model is used allowing site workers to be located in the school to provide students and their families, with extra supports. This takes pressure off the student allowing more focus to be put on school. Field Placement Responsibilities: My responsibilities include case managing about 10 students, running a lunch bunch group where students can work on social skills, and participating in school organizations. I will also be helping to plan a mental health symposium for parents of students in the school. Future Goals: I plan to graduate from Kutztown University in May with my masters in social work. After graduation I plan to use my knowledge to help the younger population from infancy to high school. Department of Social Work
