MELISSA FUREY

Assistant Coach

Melissa Furey enters her third year as an assistant coach of the Kutztown University women’s lacrosse

team in 2016.

Furey came to KU from Upper Perkiomen High School, where she served as the head girls’ lacrosse

coach from2007-13. She also served two seasons as the assistant girls’ lacrosse coach at North Penn

High School in 2005 and 2006, where she specialized in goalie training.

During the past year, Furey has also been a part of the Lacrosse Evolution program in the Philadelphia

area. Here she served as the director of the women’s lacrosse program as well as the facility director

for the King of Prussia site.

Furey received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ursinus College in exercise and sports science in 2004. At Ursinus, Furey played

goalkeeper for the women’s lacrosse team from 2001-04, earning teamMVP in her senior year.

Furey also has experience as a health and physical education teacher in the Upper Perkiomen and East Penn School Districts, as well

as field hockey coaching experience with the X-Calibur U-12 travel indoor team.
