MSW Katelyn Scott 2022 Agency Name: United States Department of Veterans Affairs Profile: Graduate student in advanced year placed in the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. Field Placement Responsibilities: The Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVAP) is an integral part of Veterans Affairs. Providing services to veterans, their partners, and VA staff to address intimate partner violence and assist in building healthy relationships. The need for IPVAP grew from veteran specific experiences, such as deployment stress and combat trauma, to include military sexual trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and substance use disorders. IPVAP is tasked with providing education and awareness to various departments and staff to ensure proactive intervention takes place. As a social work intern my responsibilities include crisis intervention through appropriate screenings, assessments, safety planning, referrals, and brief counseling. Future Goals: After I complete my degree, I plan to become licensed and work within the veteran community.
