I am placed at Holcomb Behavioral Health crisis center. Holcomb Crisis Intervention offers a crisis program to assist children, adolescents, and adults experiencing varying levels of crisis. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are free to the residents of Berks County. Field Placement Responsibilities: As an intern, I observe and assist crisis specialists, in Providing telephone crisis assessment/ triage, counseling interventions, and service referrals. Provide rapidly deployed mobile interventions throughout the community when greater intervention is required. Focus efforts on identifying alternatives to psychiatric hospitalizations whenever possible. Facilitate voluntary and involuntary psychiatric hospitalizations when clinically necessary. Support recovery-oriented principles by instilling hope and social connection. Future Goals: In the future, I would like to work in immigration serving asylum seekers and helping them settle in the country.
