BSW Lindsay Smyth 2020 Agency Name: Compassus Hospice Profile: My internship is at Compassus Hospice in Leesport, Pennsylvania. Their mission is "to honor life and offer hope to individuals facing a life - limiting illness by supporting them with compassion, integrity, and excellence." The four levels of care provided to residents of the Berks County area include routine, respite, general inpatient, and continuous. Field Placement Responsibilities: At Compassus Hospice, my role is to observe their company ’ s Social Worker as she makes calls to her clients and local resources, documents information into the online database and conducts new client assessments and re - evaluations during home visits By working with the clients, caregivers, and their families, my responsibilities as the Social Work Intern will be to provide local resources and emotional support, advocate for each patient ’ s end - of - life wishes, and be certain that the client system as a whole is comfortable with the care that they are receiving. It is my goal in my field placement to eventually be able to facilitate a home visit and document it appropriately. Future Goals: After I receive my Bachelor ’ s degree this upcoming May, I would like to earn my Master ’ s in Social Work. Although the setting is unknown, I can confidently state that I aspire to work in geriatrics. Department of Social Work
