BSW Field Profiles 2020-21

BSW Carolyn Rene 2020 Agency Name: Kutztown University Women's Center Profile: The Kutztown University Women's Center partners with other organizations and services on campus such as KUAB, KU's Residents Life, Greek Life, Wellness Center and the Multicultural Center to provide programming, education and training on issues such as women's voting rights, sexual reproductive rights, sexual assault vs. consent, relationship violence awareness, and safe space training. Field Placement Responsibilities: As a social worker working for the Women ’ s Center I provide a range of services at the micro, mezzo, and macro level to frequent visitors of the center as well as the larger Kutztown University student body. One of my responsibilities and expectations include engaging and building relationships with the diverse clientele that visits the center. I also research topics pertaining to feminism, women ’ s rights and issues, LGBTQ+ issues, and intersectionality to understand how these topics may affect clients at the micro level. I also host or participate in discussions and events surrounding these topics. I conduct research in the form of demographic surveys, client satisfaction surveys or program evaluation surveys to identify client needs and address gaps in services. Future Goals: As I grow as a student and professional my future goals evolve. Currently, I hope to obtain my BSW and attend Howard University for my MSW focusing on research, advocacy and community organizing. Department of Social Work
