Dean of Students Office: All employees involved in the Title IX process, including Title IX Coordinators, the Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students, Associate Director of Student Conduct, Advisors, and Decision makers are required to participate in trainings related to cases involving sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence through the State University of New York (SUNY) Student Conduct Institute on an annual basis. This training includes the following virtual SUNY-Student Conduct Institute modules: What is Severe Persistent, and Objectively Offensive Title IX Sexual Harassment; Legal Framework for Understanding Conflicts of Interest and Bias; What is Affirmative Consent?; Privacy, Confidentiality & Privilege in Disclosures of Sexual and Interpersonal Violence; Cultural Relevance and Inclusiveness, and Responding to Sexual and Interpersonal Violence on Campus; Due Process Part One: Theory and History; Understanding the Investigative Report Template for Investigations of Title IX Sexual Harassment; Title IX Final Rule Basics; Collecting and Understanding Specialized Evidence; No Contact Orders, Emergency Removals, and Interim Suspensions; Effective Interviewing of Parties and Witnesses; Relevance and Decorum in a Title IX Hearing; Determining Relevance in Title IX Hearings: Part One; Cross-Examination in a Title IX Hearing; Neurobiology of Sexual Assault Trauma –Part 1: Introduction; Disability Law in Student Conduct Proceedings; and Technology Basics- Information Security, Confidentiality, and Decorum. Protection of Minors: POM training is required of all new faculty, staff, and student employees. Current employees must annually review the training online and on-demand. Kutztown University provides a host of services to students for free, including security escorts, a health center, psychological services, and sexual assault services. • Request a schedule or housing change. If you have classes with the perpetrator or live in the same building, you can request a change from Housing and Residence Life. Federal laws, such as the Campus SaVE Act, require KU to honor these requests. • Access off-campus support services. If you are concerned about anonymity, you can seek out resources located off campus in the community, like a local sexual assault service provider or domestic violence shelter. Contact information is listed earlier in this section. • Seek a Protection from Abuse (PFA) Order. A PFA, sometimes also referred to as a restraining order, is a legal document that bars an individual from certain types of contact with the person who is awarded the order. An individual who violates the terms of the restraining order can face criminal charges. • Create a safety plan. If you are concerned for your ongoing safety, it can be worthwhile to create a safety plan. Safety planning is about finding ways to be safe in the present while planning for your future safety as well.
