6 TOWER | WINTER 2018 SHERROD APPEARS ON DISCOVERY CHANNEL SERIES Dr. Laura Sherrod, professor of physical sciences at KU, embarked on a remarkable journey to Colombia to participate in a Discovery Channel series, “Finding Escobar’s Millions.” The series gave Sherrod, a lover of science, math and the outdoors, the chance to explore the hidden treasures Colombia has to offer. The six-part series premiered Nov. 3. It shadows American adventurers on a quest to discover historical fact from fiction in the South American country. PSECU UNVEILS RENOVATED FINANCIAL EDUCATION CENTER Above, L to R: Dr. Kenneth Hawkinson, university president, Avalanche the Golden Bear and Greg Smith, president, PSECU, cut the ribbon to officially open the newly renovated Financial Education Center in the McFarland Student Union. One of 22 centers operated by PSECU, the KU office provides financial services assistance to the entire KU community. It also provides internship opportunities for students in the business and financial areas of study. Dr. Laura Sherrod
