The 1990s Timothy Cummins ’90 has joined the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, New York, N.Y., as a managing attorney. Elizabeth Polanzke ’92 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Wendy Daniel Farmer ’93 is a global web strategist with Lenovo. She lives in Raleigh, N.C., with her husband and stepdaughter. Russell Starke ’96 is CEO of Think Company, an award-winning experience design firm based in the Philadelphia area. Think Company was recently recognized as one of Forbes Small Giants 2018. Dawn Harvitz Owens ’97, M’00 released her first book, “Like Me or Not: Overcoming Approval Addiction,” by Worthy Publishing. Katerina Mimkha Simonetti ’97 was named to the Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisor list. Mary Lasota ’98 , an attorney with High Swartz, Doylestown, Pa., was named a “Top Lawyer for 2018” by Main Line Today magazine. LaSota joined High Swartz in fall 2017 after spending four years as a sole practitioner. She focuses her practice on estate planning, estate administration and tax law. Richard L.T. Orth ’98, M’01 released a new book, “The Pennsylvania Dutch: From Migration to Acculturation.” His previous titles include “Oley Valley Heritage: The Federal Years 1776–1862” and “Folk Religion of the Pennsylvania Dutch.” Locally, he writes a weekly area History/ Folklife column for the Kutztown Patriot . Corey Palermo ’98 earned a doctorate in educational psychology from North Carolina State University, Raleigh. He serves as vice president of performance assessment scoring at Measurement Inc., Durham, N.C. The 2000s Amanda Schaeffer ’00 has been named director of athletic advancement with the Kutztown University Foundation and Alumni Relations. Rachel Heberling ’06 was chair of the “Women Leaders in Print: Building Community” panel discussion at the 2018 Southern Graphics Conference International Conference, Las Vegas. She received her MFA from the Ohio State University and is currently studio director at Frontline Arts, formerly the Printmaking Center of New Jersey. Wesley Trump ’06 , director of the Art & Style department at global hospitality leader Delaware North, was named to design:retail magazine’s annual “40 Under 40” list. Trump and fellow honorees were recognized May 21 at an event at the Grand Hyatt New York hotel, New York, N.Y. Outside of Delaware North, Trump has served as an adjunct instructor at Buffalo State College, where he taught visual merchandising. He has held visual merchandising leadership roles with Six Flags Theme Parks, DFS Galleria, Williams- Sonoma, Disney and FAO Schwarz. Timothy Jenesky ’07 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Seth Tomlinson ’08 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Phillip Ellingsworth ’09 has been promoted to director of marketing and communications at Hahnemann University Hospital, an academic medical center in Philadelphia that is affiliated with Drexel University College of Medicine. Christina Steffy ’09 was interviewed about concepts in her book “Librarians & Stereotypes: So, Now What?” for the inaugural episode of the podcast Off the Shelf on KBOO. Matthew Roberts ’09 has been named a shareholder of Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C., Arlington, Va. Roberts’ practice focuses on land use and zoning in Northern Virginia, administrative and municipal law, real estate and business transactions, and public utility matters. The 2010s Douglas Sullivan ’11 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Katie Lynch Apostolopoulos ’13 was named head softball coach at the New York Institute of Technology. She starred during a four-year playing career as a catcher at Kutztown, including helping lead the Golden Bears to the Division II national championship game in 2013. She was named an Academic All-American that same year. Jessica Kovach ’14 and Tom Shiels ’14 are engaged to be married in March. The two met in Dr. Julie Palkendo’s chemistry class. Emily Shaffer ’14 won the 2018 Halstead Grant for new jewelry businesses. The grant encourages jewelry makers to establish goals and steps towards making their business self-sufficient. Emily Shaffer Studio started three years ago and moved to a new location in Ellsworth, Maine, in October. Rushi Amin ’15 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Justin El-Hajj ’15 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Matthew Szuchyt ’15 has been named to the board of directors of the Kutztown University Alumni Association. Sarah Elwert ’16 and Timothy Plaza ’16 were married in the spring. The couple met in Kutztown University Marching Unit’s band camp.
