86|Page Occasionally there have been instances when an error in recording a grade has occurred and, when attention has been called to it, the professor has changed the grade originally reported. This is accomplished on a special form for this purpose. Students should know, however, that any grade change must have the approval of the chair of the department and no grade change will be honored without his/her signature. Changes from “I” (Incomplete) to a letter grade do not require the department chairperson’s signature. No grade changes will be accepted after the deadline, which is ten weeks into the next regular semester. Please be aware that “I” grades do not calculate as a “F” in the GPA. The most recent grade (regardless of whether it is higher or lower) will be the grade used for the GPA calculation. If a student has taken a course at Kutztown and received a "D" or better, they will not be awarded transfer credits for the same course. PASS/FAIL Policy (ACA-013) (https://www.kutztown.edu/about-ku/administration/governance/policy-register/aca-013-pass-fail-gradingundergraduate-students.html) The Pass/Fail option is available to students for the Summer Sessions as well as for the regular Fall and Spring semesters. Students will have until the end of the Drop/Add period of any term to submit the completed Pass/ Fail form to the Registrar’s Office. (It is suggested that students consult with their advisors when selecting the courses for Pass/Fail, but the advisor’s approval is not required.) Please note that the Pass/Fail option continues to be available to students who have completed at least 30 semester hours (s.h.) with at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA. These students are eligible to take one course by Pass/Fail each semester up to a maximum of 18 semester hours (s.h.) in the undergraduate program (exclusive of Physical Education). Courses counted towards General Education requirements in Categories A, B, C, and D, as well as those counted as “University Electives” (sometimes called “Free Electives”), can be taken Pass/Fail. Students should be careful in selecting this procedure because courses that are prescribed in the major program including the specified electives under the major, minor, concentration, or concomitant courses cannot be taken Pass/Fail.
