When CPS is closed, students experiencing a mental health emergency should contact Holcomb Crisis Intervention, the Berks County mental health crisis agency, at 610-3792007 or toll free at 1-888-219-3910. Holcomb has crisis workers available 24/7, 365 days per year. You may also go to your nearest hospital emergency room. Additionally, if you are on campus, Health Center staff can assist you Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, and Public Safety is available 24/7 in Old Main at 610-683-4001. Health Administrative Services This department provides the following services to students: • Coordinates the submission of required medical forms • Assesses billing fees for Clinical Services and Counseling and Psychological Services • Processes requests for medical records Staff of Health Administrative Services can assist you whenever the Health Center is open. Health Promotion and Alcohol & Other Drug Services A full-time director for Health Promotion and Alcohol and Other Drug (HPAOD) Services and a team of graduate and undergraduate students provides activities and programs that encourage healthy lifestyle choices. Health Promotion services feature peer-to-peer educators who plan, organize, and implement educational prevention wellness programs. Some of the activities include health expos, wellness prevention programs, drop-in wellness days, and interactive educational displays for students. Alcohol and other drugs (AOD) programming provides campus and community support in implementing strategies to reduce high-risk drinking and other drug use. Staff members conduct campus alcohol risk assessments, facilitate BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) and CASICS (Cannabis Screening and Intervention for College Students). AOD services coordinates an alcohol education program for first-year undergraduate students. Also, Freedom Place is a special interest housing community for students interested in living and learning with other students who share similar substance-free lifestyle values. Students who seek collegiate recovery support and recovery support advocates meet weekly in the Health and Wellness Center.
