The Key

Living and Learning 122|Page www.kutztown.edu/thekey Academic progress for the PA State grant is measured differently. For each semester a student receives a full-time grant they must complete 12 credits; for a part-time grant six credits are required. Classes that were previously passed and are repeated do not count as completed a second time. Student Scholarships Institutional scholarships are awarded through the admissions process. Most of those scholarships are for eight semesters (six for transfer students). For renewability, students must complete 24 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher. Foundation scholarships are also awarded to students based on the donor’s criteria. The majority of these scholarships are awarded by academic departments and athletics. Many of these scholarships require the student to be a sophomore or higher so not all Foundation scholarships are available for new students. Withdrawing & Impact on Financial Aid Financial Aid Services strongly recommends that a student who is considering withdrawing from a course or from an entire semester meet with a financial aid counselor before taking any action. The counselor can explain how the withdrawal will affect the student at the time of the withdrawal or in subsequent semesters for measurement of financial aid progress. Also, based on the return of funds calculation for the different types of aid, the student could be obligated to repay any refunds from financial aid that the student was given prior to withdrawing or the student could owe the Office of Student Accounts for costs that are no longer being covered by financial aid based on the withdrawal date. Please visit the Financial Aid Office website www.kutztown.edu/financialaid or contact the office for assistance.
