KESHAV GUPTA May 2020 will mark the end of Dr. Keshav Gupta’s 27-year career with Kutztown University. As he looks back on his wondrous years at KU, he is grateful for the many memories and opportunities he’s had. After moving to the U.S. from India, Dr. Gupta earned an MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Finance concentration from the University of Pittsburgh. After a stent of teaching at Bentley College, he joined KU as an Associate Professor of Finance. From there, Dr. Gupta accumulated many student memories that he will take with him as he departs KU. One of his fondest memories has been seeing his students succeed inside and outside the classroom. He mentioned two outstanding students: Chad Wheeler and Robert Shore. Both of these students conducted research projects in his class and because of their outstanding work, they earned careers with the organizations they did research on. Dr. Gupta loves to see his students succeed and better themselves for the future. During his 27 years at KU, he had the opportunity to serve as Chair of the Accounting and Finance Department twice and Chair of Business Administration once. Although this task seemed daunting, he enjoyed the opportunity and urges other professors to take on administrative responsibilities. He encourages students and faculty to take risks even if the opportunity seems daunting. As he transitions away from Kutztown, he wants to give some advice to incoming faculty: “Stick to your standards and students will rise to it and will appreciate you in the long run.”
