Innovision Spring 2020

SPRING 2020 | 3 Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, Kutztown University quickly pivoted to move all classes to an online delivery format so that our students could complete their semester. I have been impressed with how well everyone came together to make this happen: faculty, students, IT staff, departmental secretaries and others who are all at the front lines of this educational enterprise. There have been a few bumps along the way with this transition, which is to be expected, but there have been some silver linings to this upheaval: • Faculty members who have not taught online before are becoming familiar with the power of technology to deliver course material. This will allow us to expand our online offerings in the future. • Students are more fully appreciating the value of the KU campus experience. We hope this leads to greater engagement with and participation in the variety of experiential learning opportunities and other activities that we offer. • All of us have come to more highly value our day-to-day interactions and the camaraderie and sense of community it creates. This is at the heart of what makes KU special. In these pages you will get a peek at how faculty and students are adapting to this new environment Amid this somewhat tumultuous semester, the Department of Business Administration celebrated a validation of its excellence by getting its accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) renewed. This achievement reflects the commitment of our faculty to ongoing improvement to ensure that we are delivering the high quality business programs our students need to succeed as professionals. Our faculty cultivate students’ talents not just through the curriculum, but also by fostering professional engagement and creating experiential learning opportunities. Bravo! Finally, please join me in congratulating the class of 2020 as they conclude their academic journey in these unprecedented times. Their last semester will be a memorable one, but not for the usual reasons. We will find new ways to honor them through social media and our web site, so please check these outlets out!
