Innovision Spring 2020

22 | INNOVISION MAGAZINE Cole reflects, “It was a great experience for me to test myself in a tough environment.” It was also a great opportunity for him to meet and get advice from well-respected people in the sports world. Through all his success, Cole would like to thank all his professors for helping him get to the point he is at now. He says, “My favorite thing about Kutztown has been my professors. Not only within just the sport management department, but for all the other classes I’ve taken on campus. I never felt that any of my classes were not worth my time all thanks to the professors. I have come out of classes feeling like I learned more about a topic because these professors are experts in their fields.” In the future, Cole aspires to be in a career where he is making an impact on peoples’ lives, whether that be customers or peers. Cole says, “One thing that is really important to me is helping others. In sport, there are so many ways to achieve that. Whether you get to sell a father and his son their first ticket package or you see someone you’re managing become successful, they are both equally awesome. My dream job doesn’t have a title, but it is more or less that I just want to be someone who people can be thankful for.” STUDENT FEATURE Cole always wanted to dive into a career in business. Originally, he was going to pursue a degree in Business Administration because he took multiple classes in high school and enjoyed it. Until he visited Kutztown, he learned that he could combine his love for sports and for business by being a Sport Management major. From then, Cole was in it for the long haul. Throughout his years at KU, Cole has been heavily involved in campus activities inside and outside of the university. Cole is a member of the Kutztown University Sports Business Institute (KUSBI): a faculty- led student group that works with sport organizations in the area for research purposes. Currently, KUSBI is working with the Reading Royals hockey team to plan a theme night during their current season. Outside of KU, Cole has completed two summer internships for the Harrisburg Senators baseball team; the Senators are the AA affiliate of the 2019 World Series champion Washington Nationals. He says, “I made some great relationships over the two summers there and learned a lot about minor league baseball and the processes of putting on a game.” Also, Cole had the opportunity to go to the Pennsylvania Sport Business Conference at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he competed in a case competition. The case competition was a group presentation in front of three sport industry professionals. COLE SINGLE Cole Single is a Sport Management major with a minor in Leadership.
