Innovision Spring 2020
12 | INNOVISION MAGAZINE COVID-19 After Kutztown University halted all campus events on March 16th, many adjustments were made to accommodate for remote learning and to continue to provide services for those in need. Accommodations and services include: food services provided by the KU Student Food Pantry, CASA Workshops online, online tutoring services, remote counseling and psychological services, UniversityWriting Center online, access to free e-books and laptop access for students without electronics. As with other organizations on campus, the College of Business was heavily impacted by the campus shutdown due to the quickly-developing pandemic. The week students were scheduled to come back from spring break, the College of Business was to host Entrepreneurial LeadershipWeek, a week-long event filled with featured speakers and panels for students and faculty to attend. However, due to the decision to cancel classes for the remainder of the semester, Entrepreneurial LeadershipWeek was cancelled and many educative and networking opportunities for students were lost. Besides Entrepreneurial Leadership Week, many featured speakers for the department and for clubs were cancelled. This sudden change also impacted club activities including networking nights, field trips and group outings. On the department side, the Dean and those who work in the dean’s office transitioned to working from home. All student workers working on InnoVision and social media made the same transition, but there were many changes to adapt to. Without being in the office, all communication about the publication was online, which made it challenging to collaborate. The editing phase became trickier as the student workers and the magazine advisors could not meet to discuss layout and content. Nevertheless, both the Dean’s office and the student workers are doing their best to finish out the semester strong.
