Outside of his career with the Flyers, Liam is heavily involved in the intramural sports department at Kutztown University. Since his freshman year, Liam has been playing intramural basketball and softball every season. When Liam is not playing sports, he works for the department as the Intramural Supervisor where he officiates several sports, helps set up the playing fields and works with other officials to come up with game rules. Liam also enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He says, “They are the most important people in my life so any chance I can get to do something with them, I always take it. For fun, my friends and I play fantasy football each season to add some competitiveness to the group.” He also spends a lot of his free time reading sports articles about the Philadelphia teams. At KU, Liam is thankful for all the friends he made here. From the first week of freshman year up until now, he remains great friends with everyone that lived on the second floor of Johnson Hall. Liam reflects, “If it weren’t for being placed in Johnson Hall freshman year, my college life may have been completely different.” As for his future, Liam wasn’t sure what he wanted to do until this past summer. Although the main part of his internship at Soul was based around the Ticket Sales Department, he had the opportunity to work in the game day operations department and fell in love with it. Post-graduation, Liam sees himself starting an entry level position with a professional or minor league sports team in ticket sales or operations. Ultimately, his career goal is to stay with a Philadelphia organization that he loves for a long time. STUDENT FEATURE Sports has always been a part of Liam’s life, especially Philadelphia sports teams. Whether he was playing basketball in the street with his friends, playing baseball in high school or watching a game on TV, Liam’s love for sports was always prominent. Because sports made such a big impact on his life, he believes pursuing a degree in Sport Management was the most natural decision he’s ever made. Although he had his sights on Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, Kutztown University became the clear choice for his future because of KU’s excellent Sport Management program. In addition to the program, Liam wanted to be close to Philadelphia (his hometown) since there are job opportunities in the city for post-graduation. Working in Philadelphia would also be a dream come true for Liam who always aspired to be the General Manager for the Philadelphia Phillies. To help further his career, Liam interned with the Philadelphia Soul arena football team in the Ticket Sales Department this past summer. This position gave him incredible opportunities to learn and begin his career in the sports industry. Thanks to networking and working for Soul, Liam’s boss was able to secure him a job for the Philadelphia Flyers Game-Day Staff, which he started in August.
