SPRING 2019 | 15 READING BUSINESS SKILLS FOR SUCCESS CLASS The Reading Business Skills for Success is an eight-week series for early stage and existing business owners who want to take their business to the next level. During the eight-week seminar, the KUSBDC utilizes a blended learning model; the model uses class lessons, online business plan workshops, one-on-one business consultation and networking. During the first class, participants select special topics for a team project. At the last session, these teams presented their pitch at their graduation celebration and networking event for family and significant others. The benefit of this educational model is that it fortifies the learning capacity of the student and ensures greater entrepreneurial success. The students learn about the following: business planning, defining a business model, marketing & sales growth, best practices for maintaining credit worthiness, zoning & codes, financing, social media, website analytics, record keeping and other special topics selected by the team. This series is presented by Assistant Center Director Kecia Sturdivant. KUSBDC offers this series every year in both the fall and spring to the public, KU students and staff.
