National High School Sport Business Case Competition Kutztown University recently welcomed talented high school students from across the region for its annual National High School Sport Business Case Competition— an engaging, hands-on event that showcases the future of the sport industry. The competition challenges students in grades 9–12 to tackle real-world sport business scenarios, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and presentation skills. This year’s event, held April 23–24, featured a case provided by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, giving students valuable insight into professional sport operations. The experience began the evening before competition rounds with a memorable opening event at Coca-Cola Park. Students participated in a stadium tour, connected with peers and professionals, and enjoyed watching an IronPigs game —an immersive introduction to the sport business environment and a highlight of the event. The following day, five high schools competed in a fastpaced case competition, bringing energy, creativity, and professionalism to their presentations. A special congratulations goes to North Penn High School for earning first place and rising to the top of a strong field of competitors. While only one team claimed the top prize, all participating students demonstrated impressive dedication and talent. Events like this reinforce Kutztown University’s commitment to experiential learning and to preparing the next generation of sport business leaders. The future of the sport industry is bright — and it’s clear these students are ready to lead it. 30
