The Future of Business: Innovation, Technology, & rowth Technology & AI On Monday, April 20th, the Technology and AI Panel launched the start of KU’s Entrepreneurship Week. Hosted by Munish Munagala, Kryn McClain, Xavier ShiveSanchez, and Hayden Craddolph, the panel focused on how AI is impacting and reshaping the world for today’s entrepreneurs. With the panelists coming from platforms harnessing the power of AI in the workforce, the discussion focused on informing attendees on how they could use the tools in their own businesses– small or growing larger–to enhance productivity and engagement for their customers while staying mindful of sustainability efforts. Innovation & Venture Growth Monday’s panels continued with the theme of entrepreneurs and expansion with the Innovation and Venture Growth Panel. Moderated by Dr. Gregory Kaufinger, the panelists included Katherine Tohanczyn, Michele Verviled, Mark Rentschler, and KU alumnus Scott Woodrow. Scott graduated from KU in 1988 with a degree in management and marketing. His message to attendees focused on his transitions in business from working in various forms of waste management to his current role in the baking industry. The KU graduate explained his decision for the shift simply: “A business is worth the cash flow it generates.” Throughout the panel, Katherine, Michele, Mark, and Scott fielded questions on business capital and financing options when purchasing a business. The panelists also addressed the risk involved in these purchases, including taking on loans and liabilities. However, even when taking risks, it’s crucial not to give up if something goes wrong. According to Scott, “Sometimes we fail. Be innovative. Be a problem solver. Pick yourself back up again.” 27
