STUDENT AFFAIRS IN HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANTSHIPS APPLY LEARNING OUTCOMES Kutztown University’s M.Ed. in Student Affairs in Higher Education prepares graduates for professional careers in student affairs, as well as other areas such as academics, advancement, enrollment, and more. In most cases, stu- dents have hand-on learning opportunities within differ- ent institutional types. Additionally, we boast a 90% job placement in a chosen field by August following gradua- tion. At KU, we offer graduate students in the program on- campus assistantships in the following offices: Student Involvement, Residence Life, Admissions, Academics, and more. Kutztown’s proximity to the Lehigh Valley and Berks County institutions offers off-campus opportunities within each college or university setting as well. The design of this 42-credit, two-year program is in accordance with the guidelines and standards for Masters Level Student Affairs Professional Preparation Programs set forth by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS). The learning outcomes of the program curriculum are consistent with the Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Educators devel- oped by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and American College Personnel Association (ACPA). Hence, the program combines expe- riences that are practical and specialized with those that are broad and theoretical in order to prepare students for professional practice in a variety of student affairs func- tional areas. Research skills and an understanding of the relevant literature for the disciplines are a part of the program.
