QUESTIONS Office of Graduate Admissions Boxwood House Ph: 610-683-4200 E: graduate@kutztown.com COMPUTER SCIENCE TRACKS APPLY COURSE DELIVERY The Master of Science in Computer Science offers graduate students an opportunity to pursue advanced study in the fields of computer science and information technology. KU also offers a master’s degree in the professional science track where students blend courses from other disciplines into an innovative degree tailored to each student’s ambi- tions. The curriculum incorporates both breadth and depth, permitting students to gain insight into a wide variety of topics in the discipline while also delving more deeply into specific areas. Information Technology: An innovative program of study providing instruction and experience in areas relat- ed to current technologies. Students complete courses in one or more of the following areas: security, network- ing, database and web-based design. Software Development: A traditional computer science program that combines theory and practical applica- tions in solving problems. The emphasis is on software design leading to a more theoretical approach in areas that include, but are not limited to security, networking, database and web-based design. Professional Science Master’s (PSM): A program of study intended to augment a student’s training in the discipline with practical experience and training. The PSM program emphasizes the written and verbal com- munication skills, leadership, and team-building required in professional settings. Intended to be a terminal de- gree, graduates of the PSM track are equally as comfort- able in the computer lab as in the boardroom. The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology offers many of its courses for graduate stu- dents online via real-time virtual classroom, where stu- dents may attend class on campus or remotely. These courses require two (or fewer) on campus attendances per term. There also are courses available online through learning management system delivery. Other innovative delivery methods, including weekend, early morning and accelerated delivery, are in development.
