Kutztown University Goal Strategy University Name: Kutztown University Strategy Name: Kutztown University Foundation Comprehensive Campaign Metrics Impacted: Student Success, Student Affordability Goal: Raise $6M+ annually RATIONALE KUF is currently in the ‘silent phase’ of a comprehensive campaign. During this time period, the goal is to raise $6M+ annually in outright cash, pledges, and estate commitments from KU alumni, friends, corporations and foundations for scholarship support and to enhance the student experience. The public comprehensive campaign goal and timeline will be announced once a certain percentage of goal has been raised. KUF Alumni Relations’ campaign goal will be 40,000 alumni engagement and volunteer hours over the campaign time-frame. SUPPORTING INITIATIVES • The comprehensive campaign will focus on two main priorities: student scholarships and enhancing the student experience. Student scholarships will help address the affordability of tuition for students in the areas of merit, financial need, retention scholarships and emergency funds. The student experience will encompass, undergraduate and graduate research funds, internships, retention scholarships, study abroad capital projects and other priorities as defined by university leadership. • Each college and the athletics program have a designated foundation liaison responsible for key fundraising initiatives within their area of responsibility. The development team is responsible for raising major gifts ($25k+) and annual fund gifts and encouraging student and parent philanthropy on campus. Building a culture of philanthropy on campus is vital to engaging students and parents so when students become alumni they continue to engage and give back to the university, whether it’s through time, talent, or treasure. • The office of alumni relations will engage alumni regionally and nationally through strategic communications and events. SUPPORTING PARTNERSHIPS • KUF will partner with university leadership and faculty to identify university priorities and solicit support and appropriately steward donors and key stakeholders. • KUF will partner with student groups to crowd fundraise for immediate funding priorities. • KUF volunteer groups include the KUF Board, Alumni Council and Campaign Committee to help ensure the success of the campaign in not only raising private support, but engaging alumni. • KUF Alumni Relations will partner with university faculty and staff to ensure alumni who are on campus for engagement purposes are recognized for their volunteer efforts. MARKET ANALYSIS KU and KUF are not unique in undertaking a comprehensive campaign. Several other PASSHE universities have either recently completed, or may be in the silent phase, of similar comprehensive campaigns. KUF has contracted with an independent fundraising and campaign consultant to analyze the feasibility of a comprehensive campaign. Consultant findings will support the final fundraising goal and the 40,000 alumni engagement hours. Additionally, KUF is using data analysis to determine fundraising models and travel territories for development officers. ANTICIPATED EXPENDITURE KUF has established a budget for internal purposes during the silent phase of the campaign.
