SUMMER 2019 | TOWER 31 A fter exploring careers in fashion, event planning and hospitality, Talia McKinney ’06 found her niche in real estate, as a member of the Serhant Team at Nest Seekers International. You can watch her on Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Listing New York.” McKinney is passionate about her profession, and relishes helping homebuyers acquire their first or forever home. If there’s any drawback to her chosen profession, it’s the hours. “Agents have to work incredibly hard to succeed in New York,” she revealed. “There’s a ton of ‘behind the scenes’ action, from looking at properties, to submitting an offer, or drawing up contracts. You really have to be dedicated and committed to the job. I work all the time, even at 2 a.m.” When she isn’t in front of the camera or running to open houses and client meetings, she’s making her way around the world. A seasoned traveler, McKinney has visited more than 35 countries. During her journeys, she always makes time for service opportunities, and at home, the former KU track and field athlete volunteers with the local chapter of Achilles International, where she partners with a visually-impaired runner.
