MSW Field Profiles 2021-22

MSW Kayla Fox 2021 Agency Name: Council on Chemical Abuse Profile: The Council on Chemical Abuse is a non - profit agency that provides services solely to Berks County residents. Their mission is to assist the community in preventing substance abuse while promoting treatment and recovery. The agency works to increase availability of treatment and recovery services, raise awareness about current substance abuse trends, and educate about the disease of addiction. Field Placement Responsibilities: My field placement responsibilities include assisting with safe medication management activities, such as proper medication disposal and storage, and community education. I will be helping to plan and execute several community outreach events that provide education and resources regarding medication management and substance abuse. Another responsibility I have is to survey pharmacies and hospice facilities in Berks County to assess their need for medication disposal services. I will work with these agencies to organize training sessions as well as to provide resources for safe disposal. Additionally, I will observe policy development and take part in the SOS Berks coalition to discuss and help coordinate medication management services for Berks County residents. Future Goals: My future goals include completing the MSW program and finding employment in the healthcare field while working towards my LCSW. Department of Social Work
