MSW Field Profiles 2021-22

MSW Lindsay Smyth 2021 Agency Name: Family Guidance Center Profile: Family Guidance Center is a non - profit agency with locations in Wyomissing, Boyertown, Hamburg, and Kutztown. Their mission is “ to promote and support the personal and professional growth of adults, children, and families in Berks County and surrounding areas by providing quality, culturally relevant counseling, and related services that empower people to improve the quality of their lives. ” Field Placement Responsibilities: My roles as the social work intern at the Wyomissing location are to conduct sessions with adults, children, and families; guide clients in the creation of treatment plans; utilize therapeutic approaches; schedule and document appointments; complete Data, Assessment, and Progress (DAP) notes following sessions; and provide referrals for clients to Physician Services when applicable. During my placement, I will have the opportunity to observe the other disciplines within the agency as well as my Field Instructor in order to identify the strengths and needs of the target population and agency as a whole. Future Goals: Although I have not determined what professional setting I will be in for my career, after receiving my MSW in May of 2022, I would like to work with the geriatric population.
