MSW Field Profiles 2021-22

MSW Michael Piora 2021 Agency Name: Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care Profile: Compassus is a hospice agency where they treat patients who are at the end stages of their life. We work with them and their family to make sure they get all of their mental and emotional support. Compassus is a patient and family focused agency, once the patient passes away we focus on the family ’ s needs to support them through the grieving process. Field Placement Responsibilities: My internship responsibilities are to make sure the patient is being cared for and meeting their mental and emotional needs during the last stage of their life. I will be conducting intake psychosocial assessments on the clients as well as screen them for any pre - bereavement needs, they might qualify for. Future Goals: Medical Social Worker (working in end of life care alongside organ donation, or work in pediatric oncology) Department of Social Work
