MSW Field Profiles 2021-22

MSW Shannon Doherty 2021 Agency Name: Muhlenberg School District Profile: My name is Shannon Doherty. I have a Bachelor ’ s degree in Social Work and am currently an advanced standing full time student in the Master of Social Work program at Kutztown University. I am currently placed at Muhlenberg School District located in the borough of Laureldale, Pennsylvania. At Muhlenberg School District, I will primarily be helping students in grades K - 6. Field Placement Responsibilities: My role at Muhlenberg is to be a support to the staff and students at the school. Staff will be making referrals or writing concerns for students that may need extra help or someone to talk to. The referrals/concerns will be sent to me, so I am able to check in on the student and give them the support they need. Other activities I will be doing are conducting groups and checking in on students weekly. I will be able to observe student behaviors while in the classrooms. I will be going on home visits with my field instructor. I will be assigned certain days for lunch duty which will help me get to know the students outside of the classroom setting. Future Goals: I hope to obtain my MSW in May and complete the School Social Work certification after graduation. I plan to get my LSW. Lastly, I hope to continue working directly with children in my future job. Department of Social Work
