MSW Field Profiles 2021-22
MSW Kaitlin Muzzy 2021 Agency Name: Valley Youth House Profile: Valley Youth House Bethlehem shelter is a shelter for homeless and runaway youth. The shelter houses youth ages 12 - 17 temporarily while a permanent placement is being found for them. At the shelter, the youth participate in group and individual therapy, have chances to build life skills through house chores, and they go to school. The Bethlehem shelter is one of many programs through the Valley Youth House. Field Placement Responsibilities: As a social work intern at Valley Youth House, I work with my assigned youth in weekly therapy sessions. When I am not in therapy sessions, I am either taking the youth somewhere out of the house, observing a group session, participating in team meetings, or I am facilitating a group with all the youth. This placement is excellent experience to learn about crisis intervention, trauma informed care, and therapeutic skills. Future Goals: I would like to work as a criminal justice social worker, working with the police in responding to crisis intervention emergency calls. Department of Social Work
