MSW Field Profiles 2021-22

MSW Jillian Horton 2021 Agency Name: Community Action Lehigh Valley Profile: Racial and Ethnic Justice within Community Action of the Lehigh Valley is an organization that strives to combat racism and increase equity in the greater Lehigh Valley by bringing together a wide variety of people and resources. Programming includes Generation Next, SHE, and the Color Outside the Lines Initiative. They strive to bring everyone in the Valley equally to the table. Field Placement Responsibilities: In my role with Racial and Ethnic Justice, I will be supporting organizers in the classroom with Generation Next and, as time passes, will get the opportunity to implement curriculum with the program. I will also be working closely with the Color Outside the Lines mental health initiative, which is working to increase access to mental health for the BIPOC population of the Lehigh Valley. I will also have the opportunity to explore how community organizing in this manner impacts the family system and develops a deeper understanding of how what affects the community also affects the family. Future Goals: My goal is to complete my MSW, become licensed, and work to bring my macro level skills into program development and planning in my community. Department of Social Work
