MSW Alexandra Garcia 2021 Agency Name: My Place Program within Disability Service Office Profile: The My Place Program provides support services to students on the autism spectrum who are enrolled in Kutztown University. These services increase the supports that are provided through academic accommodations and campus support services. The emphases are on four major areas: executive functioning skills related to academics, career development, social skills, and independent college living. Field Placement Responsibilities: Within field I will facilitate the following activities: Meet with students weekly to work on individual goals that include executive function, time management, academic issues, social skills/needs, problem resolution, and independent college living/residence concerns. I also help and monitor study halls and facilitate group activities that support student success. I keep current with research on college students with autism spectrum disorders and higher education success initiatives. I assess the needs of KU students on the spectrum and implement appropriate interventions needed. Throughout the year I will maintain confidential, private, and accurate records. Lastly, I will attend weekly supervision meeting with My Place Program Director. Future Goals: My future goals are to earn my MSW, obtain my LSW and then work under a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to obtain my required supervision to obtain my LCSW. Department of Social Work
