MSW Field Profiles 2021-22

MSW Alyssa Oakley 2021 Agency Name: Bethlehem Health Bureau Profile: My name is Alyssa Oakley and I am in my first year of Graduate School for my Master's in Social Work. My placement is at the Bethlehem Health Bureau working on a program that integrates social work services into the Bethlehem Police Department. Field Placement Responsibilities: My role as an intern is to assist my field instructor in creating formal policies for the program, as well as generating an official list of agencies that can be used when making referrals. I will also be responsible for making those initial phone calls with clients, meeting with them individually, and making referrals to connect them to services. My internship will include attending community events and ensuring that the police have mental health training, as well as collecting data that can be used to further analyze the effectiveness of this program. Future Goals: In the future, I hope to work in the criminal justice field as a social worker, either assisting inmates reintegrate into society or working with juveniles in the probation field.
