MSW Field Profiles 2020-21

MSW Julia Laudadio 2020 Agency Name: Kutztown University Department of Social Work Profile: In this non - traditional field placement, I consider the agency to be the KU Department of Social Work. The focus of the agency is the two studies I am assisting with: Access to Mental Health Services in Rural PA and Effectiveness of Microfinance as a Sustainable Tool for Social Development and Poverty Alleviation in Haiti. Field Placement Responsibilities: As a research assistant in the study of mutual solidarity economies in rural Haiti, I am conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis using NVivo and SPSS softwares. I am assisting with research into barriers to mental health care in rural PA by facilitating interviews with service users and assessing the availability of healthcare facilities in rural areas. I will be critically evaluating our findings to contribute to the current literature on these topics and begin to propose family - centered policy suggestions. Future Goals: My future holds opportunity for social work in communities, working with families to build on their strengths and empower them to organize.
