MSW Field Profiles 2020-21

MSW Jillian Horton 2020 Agency Name: Kutztown University Department of Social Work Profile: Kutztown University ’ s Department of Social Work is committed to rigorous research to improve the social work practice. One research study conducted by the department is Dr. Svistova ’ s “ Access to Mental Health Services in Rural PA. ” This study focuses on collecting data regarding mental health access and delivery in rural PA in order to advocate for improved policy to the PA General Assembly. Field Placement Responsibilities: In my role as a research assistant, I will be working collaboratively with a research team to complete the “ Access to Mental Health Services in Rural PA ” study. I will be responsible for coding the transcripts from service providers and insurance focus groups conducted by the team. I will conduct interviews with service users to document their experience and clean and analyze the data. Following the interviews, participants will evaluate my performance utilizing a tool I am responsible for creating. Finally, I will be writing a grant application in order to analyze policy related to the research topic, much of which I have already begun identifying. Future Goals: As I continue work on my MSW, I hope to develop a deeper understanding of the interaction between the micro, mezzo, and macro levels and how I can intercede effectively at each level.
