MSW Field Profiles 2020-21

MSW Kristin Hasper 2020 Agency Name: Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge Profile: Completing the Advanced Master ’ s of Social Work Program at Kutztown University, my internship is at Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge, serving individuals recovering from addiction. Providing an excellent opportunity to assist this vulnerable population, the intern site offers medical detox treatment, inpatient clinical treatment, a residential faith - based addiction program, and an outpatient program. Field Placement Responsibilities: With counseling as the focus of this internship, shadow work will lead to individual counseling and interaction with groups as they are affected by the recovery process. Included within the parameters of this social work internship will be exposure to all of the programs, providing a broad foundation of experience in methods of intervention. Given that Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge has a strong reputation for effective work among the population of those recovering from addictions, this field work assignment holds promise toward ensuring both a wide range of experiential opportunities and a solid foundation for future social work practice. Future Goals: Upholding the cause of the oppressed, I hope to be providing counseling to individuals recovering from adversities or traumatic life experiences, helping them achieve their greatest potential.
