MSW Field Profiles 2018-19

MSW Raiza Williams 2018-2019 Agency Name: United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley Profile: United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is a non-profit corporation that provides resources and services in the areas of education, food access, healthy aging, and emergency services Field Placement Responsibilities: My role at United Way will be to collaborate with the Community School Coordinator at McKinley Elementary School in Allentown, to engage and plan with families that have been identified as being chronically absent or at risk of becoming chronically absent. Additionally, I will be collaborating with my colleagues at United Way, to engage with business owners as trusted messenger to provide materials and information to parents within the Allentown Community about the Talk Read Sing campaign. Parents will be encouraged to talk, read, and sing to their children from birth to five years old to help them increase their reading level. Future Goals: When I graduate with my MSW I plan to work in a nonprofit agency similar to United Way. I would like to stay involved in community development and work within the mezzo and macro levels of practice. Department of Social Work
