BSW Field Profiles 2021-22

BSW Samantha DeBree 2021 Agency Name: Northampton County Children and Youth Profile: Northampton County CYS division is a public child welfare agency that is responsible for ensuring the safety and well - being of children in the community. The agency's mission is to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect through protective and preventive services designed to keep families together whenever possible and to assure children's safety, permanency and well - being. Field Placement Responsibilities: At Northampton CYS, I work mainly in the GPS General Protected Services department. I review and comprehend laws, paperwork, manuals, and resources that pertain to the agency. I observe and participate in field work with children and families involved with the agency. I observe how the caseworkers manage a diverse caseload of clients and guide them through the planned change process. I shadow the caseworkers as they receive referrals and assist in home visits. Future Goals: After completing my internship through the CWEB program, I will work in Pennsylvania for a Children and Youth agency. I then plan to return to Kutztown University and complete my MSW degree. Department of Social Work
