BSW Field Profiles 2021-22

BSW Sierra Baller 2021 Agency Name: Luna Doula Birth Services Profile: Luna Doula Birth Services is a labor and birth support service agency. Erica Hesselson, the founder and sole service provider, is a certified birth doula who works with expectant mothers in Berks County. Erica assists with home, hospital, and birth center births and provides reassurance, encouragement, and advocacy in the delivery room. Field Placement Responsibilities: A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support to women during pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. My field placement responsibilities include providing clerical and organizational support to Luna Doula Birth Services, in addition to conducting research, creating documents and presentations, and attending doula meetings and births. I assist in web optimization, social media updates, the accuracy of website and resource list information, and assuring streamlined support for individuals and families in the community. Future Goals: My future goals include assisting Luna Doula Birth Services in securing an LLC and becoming a grant - supported organization that is able to provide doula services to women regardless of their ability to pay.
